Indian Institute of Aeronautics (IIA) is one of the oldest Aircraft Maintenance Training Institute in India , which was established in 1982 at Patna and got the approval in 1983. IIA was transferred to Delhi in 2001. IIA has completed 29 years of service to the nation in the field of Aircraft Maintenance Training through generation of quality trained technical manpower for the Airlines / Aviation Industry. Today IIA has become a high quality based training organization in India duly approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Govt. of India, vide approval No.5-796/8, dated 15th December 1983 at Patna & its subsequent approval No. IIA/F.APP/VOL/I Dated 5th January 2002 in New Delhi. IIA runs with experienced management vision. It's fool proof systems are closely under the supervision of Mr.H.S. Khola, Former Director General of Civil Aviation, Govt. of India, who is an advisor of IIA. It is one of the uncommon efforts of IIA, which makes difference from others. IIA is whole heartedly dedicated to impart best possible training to its students by utilizing latest teaching aids, digital up to date library, updated infrastructure consisting of Turbo Jet, Turbo Shaft, Piston Engine, heavy & light Airplane, Turbine helicopter & including Avionics (Electrical, Instrument & Radio Communication & Navigation) lab/shop etc & highly experienced faculty with Airlines / aviation back ground as per the DGCA requirements.
Curriculum activities and AME Training Programme framed keeping in view the current technology in force in the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, are approved by Director General of Civil Aviation, Govt. of India, Infrastructure and Training facilities of Indian Institute of Aeronautics are complied with DGCA requirement.Click here for Aircraft Specification and Facilities. IIA is always making its effort to achieve highest possible training standards and is also keen to learn from the Aviation world, even after 29 years of experience for Academic excellence. Therefore, IIA training standards are equivalent to International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO type-II).
Further, it is the first A.M.E. institution from India enlisted in Aviation Training Directory of ICAO of which India is a member state likewise, IIA has been continuously moving ahead without looking back with support of its passed students and their reputation, Airlines co-operation, Aviation industry feed back, IIA team spirit and in-depth knowledge and experience. Today IIA feels proud of its students which are employed by all airlines in India including foreign Airlines / Aviation firms contributing their service for the safety of the Aircraft and its passengers. Many of them hold high designation in the Airlines / AMOs. These students are source of inspiration for the upcoming A.M.E. trainees. SCOPE OF APPROVAL (a) Aeroplane and Power Plant - Light Aircraft, Heavy Aircraft, Piston Engine and Jet Engine. (b) Helicopter and Power Plant - Piston Engine, Jet Engine and Rotary Wing Aircraft. (c) Avionics - Electrical System, Instrument System and Radio Navigation. DURATION OF COURSE 3 YEARS. [ 2½ Years of Theory & Practical Training and 06 months of ON JOB PRACTICAL Training] POLICY & PROCEDURE OF OJT To give extensive exposure on various maintenance process and unscheduled activitites, students are given On Job Trainining in Jet Engine System & Radio Navigation System on SA-318C Helicopter, ASTAZOU fitted with turboshaft engine, manufactured by Turbomeca & positioned in the premises of IIA, Ranholla, New Delhi. Also students are given On Job Training on Bonanza (A-35) Aircraft fitted with continental Engine (E-185) for LA & CP, positioned in the premises of JRNIAT, Mundka, New Delhi. Keeping in view of the above objective, the OJT programme is conducted as per following procedures complying all the requirements as spelt in CAR Section-2, Series-E-VIII Appendix 'V' latest revision: 1. The students are briefed about the safety precaution to be observed while working in and around the aircraft. The importance of adhering to personal safety is also emphasized. Students are also briefed about the safety precautions while working with fuel system and also while refueling the Helicopter. 2.Students are familiarized with the documents pertaining to the Helicopter SA-318C that is work order, discrepancy form, flight log book, engine service record, aircraft log book, airworthiness approval tag, service manual, flight manual, engine maintenance manual illustrated parts catalogue. Modification, Service letter and alert letters issued by manufacturer time to time. 3. Students are acquainted with the identification and use of different tools used in aircraft in day to day activities and also with special tools used in some special task carried out on aircraft like, idle rm & max rpm adjustment, compressor wash etc. 4. Physical demonstration of difference activites like fuel filter removal, cleaning, inspection and fitment, strarter generator removal and installation etc as per the AMM and task cards. 5. Line module which includes preflight inspection, post flight inspection as per AMM. 6. Base module, which includes 100 hrs and 200 hrs inspection. 7. Students are also given demonstration of engine run up by trained persons and the same persons are fully aware of ground run up procedure along with the procedure of monitoring different parameters during the same. SA-318C turbine engine Helicopter imported to Indian Institute of Aeronautics, New Delhi. 
SA- 318C Helicopter has been purchased from Europe for the purpose of practical training of the students. It came via shipment and was assembled here by our qualified engineers. Minor damage in the airframe caused due to shipment was wonderfully repaired by our engineers. All the systems are working fine along with its functional turbo shaft ASTAZOU II-A ENGINE. It is exclusively for training only. |
