The Primary objective of the institute is to contribute towards the growth of the Aviation Industry by grooming a breed of efficient, knowledgeable and dedicated AME’s, who can meet the challenges of the rapidly changing and progressively growing science and technology of aviation.

IIAS, Jamshedpur has an added advantage of being located at Sonari Aerodrome, Jamshedpur, a cosmopolitan city of India. The picturesque view of various aircrafts landing and take off from the runway, with Dalma hills at the background is a thrilling experience for the students of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering. In these 15 years, IIAS has produced many AMEs who are serving the Indian Aviation Industry with great responsibility and dedication taking challenges of maintaining modern state of the art aircraft with satisfaction to their employers.

SCOPE OF APPROVAL

The institute is having approval in the following categories: Helicopter & Powerplant (Rotary Aircraft, Jet Engine), Avionics (Electrical System,Instrument System and Radio Navigation System).

DURATION OF COURSE

3 YEARS. [ 2½ Years of Theory & Practical Training and 06 months of ON JOB PRACTICAL Training]

ON THE JOB TRAINING 

IIAS, Jamshedpur has procured a Helicopter "Eurocopter - BO-105" as per DGCA's new regulation. The "Eurocopter - BO-105" is an IFR certified Helicopter, adequately fitted with Avionics, complete with its Jet Engines running, landing gear and most of the primary instruments and systems in working conditions. This twin turbo shaft helicopter will be exclusively used for the AME training.

The pedagogy and academic plan of IIAS, Jamshedpur is based on the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required by Aviation Industry. The personality Development of the students is also a part of the curriculum. The students are given theoretical inputs on technical aspect of the aircraft in the theory classes. Also, they are given thorough practical training in developing skills for maintenance of aircraft. Thus, they achieve a strong technological background before joining the industry. Also, the classrooms which had over head projectors (O.H.P.) earlier are now equipped with L.C.D. over head projectors and laptops. Group discussions and value based personality development programmers are introduced to increase the confidence level, sincerity and developing a sense of responsibility among students to make them effective and successful engineers.

IIAS, Jamshedpur gives greater stress on students discipline along with academic excellence, as discipline along with academic excellence, as discipline along with engineering knowledge and skill is the foundation of a good Aircraft Maintenance Engineer. The institute provides merit scholarships for bright students depending upon the high performance in the semester examinations at its discretion. It has state of the art workshops; computer based training aids, classrooms, well stocked library, aircraft system, mockups, various types of Piston Engine Shop, modern Jet Engine Shop and a state of the art Electrical System, Instrument System and Radio Navigation lab. The library is provided with computers having internet facility.
